These lovely frittata snails, complete with head and antennae, make a creative and nourishing kids… even the pickiest child will love them! Find this and many more recipes with pictures on the Giallozafferano App (in English)

First of all, make the frittata: crack the eggs into a bowl, but tap them on the counter, or you may contaminate the food with bacteria. Add salt, parsley and grated parmesan cheese. Some grated nutmeg, then beat with a fork. Done, now take a baking pan, mine is 12 by 9 inches (30x23 cm), and line with parchment paper. It’s soft, as you can see: cut out a piece of parchment paper, scrunch it up, place under cold running water, then squeeze and pat it dry with a clean cloth, so it’s easier to mould into baking pans. If you use parchment paper you don’t need to add any fat. Bake the frittata in a preheated static oven at 390°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, it’s very thin, then immediately remove from the pan and cover with cling film, so that moisture does not escape and makes the frittata easy to roll up.
We’ll use carrots for the antennae: cut the carrots into slices, about ¾ inch (2 cm) thick, then cut into thin strips. Once cooked, remove the frittata from the oven, take it out of the pan, then cover with cling film or the moisture will be lost, see? Now let it cool at room temperature.
The frittata is cooled. Invert it, remove the parchment paper, and cover first with the cheese, then with the ham. Perfect, now roll it up from one of the short sides, using the cling film to help you. Roll it tightly, then wrap in cling film, twisting the ends to seal, and place in the fridge to set for at least half an hour. In the fridge!
Grill the hot dogs, otherwise use a non-stick pan or a microwave. Just a quick sear! Everything’s ready for assembly. Do you like it? Here’s how to do! Cut the roll into ¾-inch (2 cm) thick slices, take the hot dog, cut at an angle and tuck the flat end under the pinwheel. Now secure with a toothpick, in this way. Use a toothpick to pierce two holes here and insert the antennae, the carrot strips, remember? And here’s our snail; repeat with the rest of the frittata, meanwhile let’s see together the ingredients needed for this recipe!
